OFT announces senior team appointments

The OFT has today confirmed internal appointments that bring continuity within its senior management team.
Executive
Directors:
The OFT will proceed with two Executive Directors, both reporting to Chief Executive John Fingleton:
Jonathan May has been confirmed as Executive Director for Markets and Projects in addition to his role as Executive Director of Policy and Strategy, which he has held since November 2006. Jonathan joined the OFT at the end of 2001 as Director of Markets and Policies Initiatives from the DTI, where he was Director of UK Competition Policy.
Vivienne Dews continues as Executive Director for Corporate Services. She has responsibility for Consumer Direct, Consumer Credit Licensing and Anti-Money Laundering, as well as Finance, HR, IT, Facilities Management, Procurement and Enquiries.
Senior Directors:
Heather Clayton has been confirmed as Senior Director for Infrastructure and the Consumer Protection Group. Heather has extensive experience of high-profile competition and consumer work. Heather joined the OFT in 2007 to head up the Infrastructure group, having previously worked at the Financial Ombudsman Service where she led responsibility for mortgages endowment complaints, and at Ofcom as Director of Investigations.
As previously announced, Amelia Fletcher has been appointed Senior Director of Mergers in addition to her role as Chief Economist. Amelia joined the OFT in 2001, and previously worked as an economic consultant, focusing on antitrust cases, for Frontier Economics and prior to that at London Economics.
Amelia and Heather both report to Jonathan May.
Directors:
Andrea Appella has been appointed for two years as OFT Director of International. He has been performing the role on contract since June 2008. Andrea is former Vice President & Associate General Counsel at Time Warner Europe, where he was responsible for international competition matters for Time Warner Corporate and its divisions in Europe and non-US countries.
John Fingleton OFT Chief Executive said:

In the current climate the work of the OFT is more important than ever to ensure that markets work well for consumers, and this team will provide the vision and leadership to ensure a strategic approach to key market sectors.'
