From April 2013, under changes to the consumer landscape protection regime, introduced by Government, the OFT will no longer be responsible for approving consumer facing codes of practice. The Government has invited the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) to operate a successor scheme to the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. You can find further details of the TSI scheme here.
The Office of Fair Trading's Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) was designed to make buying and selling better for everyone. It helped consumers choose businesses that have promised to provide a higher standard of customer service than required by law, including better protection in the event that something goes wrong. It gave businesses the chance to show their commitment, by displaying the OFT Approved code logo.
