The Register explained

For the purposes of the Register, all companies that were originally signatories are included, unless Companies House has listed them as dissolved.

The OFT also holds details of certain informal assurances given in lieu of formal action under the Fair Trading Act. These assurances are non-statutory and are therefore not included in the Register.

An explanation of the main abbreviations used in the Register is given below.

Title and reference number of report
The reports from which the undertakings or orders stem are identified individually. Reports by the OFT show the OFT reference number after the title (eg 'OFT690'); those by the Competition Commission or MMC show the Stationery Office reference number (eg 'MMC - Cm 961').

Most OFT reports are available on this website (see Publications). CC and MMC reports are available in summary form on the Competition Commission website and can be purchased at Stationery Office bookshops.

Orders
Orders are published as statutory instruments, shown as 'SI' with the year and individual reference number - for example, 'SI 1989 No 1061'. SIs can be found on the OPSI website or purchased at Stationery Office bookshops.

Index information
This heading provides SIC codes, which are the 1992 Standard Industrial Classification indices as produced by the Office for National Statistics; the relevant industry and market sector; and, in the case of monopoly undertakings or orders, keywords describing the type of competition problem that the undertakings or orders address (such as discriminatory pricing, or selective distribution).
