OFT changes licence certificate procedure
From 12 March 2007 the OFT will no longer be issuing licence certificate documents. Instead we will send Consumer Credit Licence applicants/ licence holders a letter confirming that the trader is licensed to offer credit, which will include all of the relevant details.
We are also replacing our core internal database which is used to process consumer credit licence applications.
In the period following the introduction of the new core IT system there could be some delays in the processing of applications and the issuing of the letters confirming the consumer credit licensing arrangements as the new system is embedded. We therefore recommend that, where possible, you apply early for new licensing arrangements or to vary existing licensing arrangements.
The official record of whether a trader is licensed is the Consumer Credit Register which will be available online shortly for businesses, consumers and regulators to search directly whether a trader is licensed.
