Both the OFT and the CAA have concurrent powers under the Enterprise Act 2002 (EA02) to enforce certain consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations ('the CPRs').
The OFT and the CAA have agreed working arrangements in relation to enforcement of the CPRs, which have been set out in a concordat which came into effect on 8 June 2012. The purpose of this document is to record their agreement to co-ordinate enforcement action and to co-operate to ensure the effective and consistent delivery of consumer protection in relation to the CPRs and the EA02.
The concordat sets out the division of responsibilities between the two bodies for the enforcement of the CPRs, and principles of working arrangements for the handling of complaints.
